Star Health launches "Know Your Policy" feature to simplify understanding

Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd. (Star Health Insurance) announced the launch of "Know Your Policy," a new in-app feature aimed at simplifying health insurance coverage understanding for customers. The initiative, introduced on September 11, 2025, aligns with IRDAI's mandatory Customer Information Sheet (CIS) and broader consumer protection objectives. Since its launch, 300,000 customers have benefited from the feature, which provides a concise summary of policy inclusions, exclusions, and waiting periods.

The "Know Your Policy" feature, accessible on the Star Health customer app, is divided into "What's Included" and "What's Not Included" sections. It offers a snapshot of key policy benefits like hospitalization and maternity coverage, alongside common exclusions such as cosmetic treatments and pre-existing conditions (PED), helping customers avoid surprises during claim settlement. Star Health Insurance has observed a reduction in customer calls regarding exclusions and waiting periods, indicating improved customer satisfaction and preparedness.

This initiative is part of Star Health's broader digital strategy, with the company's app surpassing 11 million downloads and over 1.2 million monthly active users. Currently, 63% of renewals are processed automatically, and over 75% of new business originates through digital channels. Customers spend an average of 2 minutes on the "Know Your Policy" tool, contributing to the app's high user ratings of 4.6 on the App Store and 4.4 on Google Play.
