Apollo subsidiary partners for rocket motor technology, boosts 'Make in India' defense

Apollo Strategic Technologies Private Limited (ASTPL), a step-down subsidiary of Apollo Micro Systems Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dynamic Engineering and Design Incorporation- United States of America. This agreement, formalized at DSEI London on September 10, 2025, involves technology transfer, co-development, and potential licensed production of rocket motors for BM-21 Grad ER and non-ER rockets.

This collaboration is a strategic move to indigenize propulsion technologies for multi-barrel rocket systems, enhancing self-reliance in critical defense systems under the 'Make in India' initiative. The Apollo Group has already developed 122mm rocket warheads in-house and plans to begin trials and full-scale production by mid-2026. Integrating these domestically produced warheads and rocket motors marks a significant milestone in India's private defense manufacturing sector.

The initiative aims to position the Apollo Group as a key private player offering fully in-house developed rocket systems, thereby strengthening India's global defense supply chain. The BM-21 Grad rockets are widely demanded unguided rockets, and this move supports the government's vision for self-reliance in defense production.
