Adani Power secures 1,600 MW capacity in Madhya Pradesh

Adani Power Limited (APL) has secured an additional Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) for the supply of 800 MW from a new ultra-supercritical thermal power project in Anuppur District, Madhya Pradesh. This award, under a "Greenshoe Option," increases the total awarded capacity to 1,600 MW, following an initial 800 MW LoA. The project will operate on a Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model, utilizing coal linkage arranged by the Utility under the SHAKTI Policy.

This additional 800 MW capacity is at the same tariff of INR 5.838 / kWh as the previously awarded capacity. APL plans to invest approximately INR 21,000 Crore for the 1,600 MW project, which will be commissioned within 60 months of the appointed date. This marks Adani Power's fifth major power supply order in the last 12 months, bringing its total awarded capacity to 7,200 MW.

Adani Power is currently implementing 23.72 GW of capital expenditure, aiming to raise its total generation capacity to 41.87 GW by 2031-32. The project is expected to generate significant employment during both construction and operation phases.
