SWELECT Energy Systems appoints new CEO and managing director

SWELECT Energy Systems Ltd. announced the appointment of Dr. Arulkumar Shanmugasundaram as its new chief executive officer and managing director, effective September 10, 2025. Dr. Shanmugasundaram brings over 30 years of global experience in technology, manufacturing, and renewable energy. He previously served as executive director (operations) at Ayana Renewable Power, where he led business development, engineering, technology, IT, and asset management, contributing to a 5 GW portfolio before its acquisition in a $2.3 bn deal.

Mr. R. Chellappan, the outgoing leader, will transition to the role of vice chairman, continuing to provide strategic guidance to the company. SWELECT's strategic roadmap for 2027 aims for significant growth, targeting 1 GW+ in IPP projects, 1 GW+ in EPC projects, 2 GW in module manufacturing, and entry into solar cell manufacturing.

Established in 1984, SWELECT specializes in solar photovoltaic modules, module mounting structures, power conditioning units, and comprehensive engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. The company's legacy includes two decades of market leadership in UPS solutions under its Numeric brand before transitioning to SWELECT in 2012.
