Jindal Stainless supplies steel for Bangalore Metro phase 2 expansion

Jindal Stainless announced on September 10, 2025, that it has supplied premium 301N austenitic stainless steel for the Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project. This contribution marks a significant milestone in urban transport infrastructure, with the yellow line of the project recently inaugurated. To date, Jindal Stainless has delivered 1,031 metric tonnes of 301N stainless steel for the metro coaches, including roofs and structural parts, with further deliveries scheduled. This material is chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion protection, and fire and crash resistance.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) had earlier in August inducted three trainsets from the CRRC-Titagarh Consortium, part of an order for 53 trainsets for the Phase 2 expansion. This project builds on Jindal Stainless's extensive involvement in metro infrastructure, which includes supplying material for Kolkata's underwater metro, the Vande Metro train, and various other Indian railway projects since 1998.

Jindal Stainless, with an annual turnover of INR 40,182 crore in FY25, aims to increase its annual melt capacity to 4.2 million tonnes by FY27. The company operates 16 manufacturing and processing facilities globally and maintains a worldwide network across 12 countries.
