GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals receives GST demand order

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited (GSK) announced on September 8, 2025, that it has received a demand order from the Assistant Commissioner, CGST & Central Excise, Division-VIII, Mumbai Central. The order, dated August 29, 2025, relates to the period from April 2021 to March 2022 and April 2023 to March 2024.

The demand pertains to the alleged non-payment of GST for export of services. The order quantifies the tax demand at Rs. 90,45,908 with a penalty of Rs. 90,45,908, totaling Rs. 1,80,91,816, for the first period. For the second period, the tax demand is Rs. 13,13,062 with a penalty of Rs. 13,13,062, amounting to Rs. 26,26,124. Interest was not quantified for either period.

GSK stated that there will be no impact on its financial operations and the company is currently evaluating the demand order, intending to take appropriate actions.
