GMR Power releases 2024-25 sustainability performance and governance report

GMR Power and Urban Infra Limited reported its Business Responsibility and Sustainability (BRSR) performance for the financial year 2024-25, with Grant Thornton Bharat LLP providing reasonable assurance for core indicators. The company reported a total energy consumption of 11,43,75,395 GJ and a total water withdrawal of 2,32,40,696 kilolitres for 2024-25. Energy intensity per rupee of turnover was 18,029 GJ/Crore, while water intensity was 3,717 KL/Crore.

The company's initiatives in 2024-25 include significant progress in sustainability. Total waste generated amounted to 37,38,674 metric tonnes, with 10,18,788 metric tonnes recovered through recycling and other operations. GMR Power also reported total Scope 1 emissions of 1,07,61,931 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent and Scope 2 emissions of 4,355 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent.

In terms of social performance, the company engaged with 952 employees, covering 100% in health insurance and 95% in paternity benefits. Training and awareness programs on ESG, risk, and business ethics covered 100% of the board of directors and key managerial personnel, and 86% of other employees. Gross wages paid to females accounted for 0.93% of total wages, and the company reported zero sexual harassment or discrimination complaints.
