Ashok Leyland reports modest August sales growth, M&HCV buses surge

Ashok Leyland experienced a 2% increase in total domestic vehicle sales, reaching 13,622 units in August 2025 compared to 13,347 units in August 2024. This growth was primarily driven by an 11% rise in M&HCV bus sales, which reached 1,565 units, while M&HCV trucks saw a marginal 1% increase to 6,426 units. Light commercial vehicles (LCV) also contributed with a 1% increase to 5,631 units domestically.

When including exports, Ashok Leyland's total vehicle sales for August 2025 grew by 5% to 15,239 units, up from 14,463 units in August 2024. This was significantly boosted by a 36% surge in M&HCV bus sales, reaching 2,643 units across domestic and export markets. Overall, M&HCV sales (domestic + exports) increased by 8% to 9,381 units, and LCV sales rose by 1% to 5,858 units.

For the cumulative period, total domestic vehicle sales for August 2025 showed a 1% increase, reaching 68,350 units. Combined domestic and export sales increased by 3% cumulatively, totaling 74,541 vehicles.
