Colab Platforms launches esports division eyeing Olympic glory

Colab Platforms Limited (BSE: 542866) officially announced the launch of its dedicated esports platform, www.colabesports.in, on August 30, 2025. This strategic move aims to capitalize on India's burgeoning esports industry, which was valued at $3.8 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $1,168.82 million by 2034. The launch follows a board meeting held earlier on the same day, where the board of directors approved the press release for this significant initiative.

The new platform is designed to serve India's digital-first generation of esports athletes, aligning with the country's preparations for the Olympic Esports Games 2027. The Indian esports ecosystem, currently supporting over 1.5 million professional athletes, is expected to contribute ₹1,100+ crore to the national economy by 2025. This growth is bolstered by the formal recognition of esports as a competitive sport by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in December 2022 and the government's framework to promote esports through the Online Gaming Bill 2025.
