Adani Power secures 2,400 MW thermal power project in Bihar

Adani Power Limited (APL) announced today, August 29, 2025, the receipt of a Letter of Award (LoA) from Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL) for a 2,400 MW (3X 800MW) thermal power project. This 25-year procurement agreement involves setting up an ultra-supercritical plant at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, for electricity supply to North Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd. (SBPDCL).

The project, which will be developed on a Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model, follows APL's successful bid in a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding process, offering the lowest supply price of ₹6.075 per KWh. Adani Power plans to invest approximately $3 bn in the plant's setup.

This initiative is expected to generate 10,000–12,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and around 3,000 jobs once operational, contributing significantly to the region's industrialization and economic growth. The LoA was granted on August 28, 2025.
