Coal India Appoints Asheesh Kumar as Director, Business Development

Shri Asheesh Kumar (DIN-10836997) has been appointed as Director (Business Development) on the Board of Coal India Limited (CIL), effective August 21, 2025. The Ministry of Coal confirmed this appointment via a letter dated July 18, 2025, for a period of five years or until further orders.

Mr. Kumar previously served as OSD/Project Adviser in the Ministry of Coal, where he played a key role in CIL's diversification into critical minerals and in formulating policy reforms. His extensive 30-year mining experience spans operations, contract management, vigilance, policy, planning, and project monitoring. He joined CIL in 1994 as a Graduate Engineering Trainee (Mining).

Concurrently, Shri Mukesh Choudhary (DIN-07532479) has ceased to hold the additional charge of Director (Business Development) as of August 21, 2025.
