Dabur India faces erroneous tax demand of $33m

Dabur India Limited received an erroneous income tax demand of INR 279.13 crores from the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax for Assessment Year 2017-18.

The rectification order dated August 1, 2025 was meant to enhance income addition by INR 4.38 crores, creating an additional demand of INR 1.53 crores. However, the order mistakenly calculated the total tax demand at INR 279.13 crores instead of the correct amount of INR 57.24 crores.

Dabur intends to file an application under Section 154 of the Income Tax Act to rectify the apparent mistake and expects no financial implication from the error.
