JSW Infrastructure wins Kolkata port berth project

JSW Infrastructure Limited has secured a Letter of Award from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority for the reconstruction and mechanization of berths at Netaji Subhas Dock, Kolkata. The project, awarded on a Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis under the PPP model, aims to enhance container handling capacity at the port. With an estimated capex of INR740 crore and a two-year construction timeline, the company expects to commence operations during the construction phase. The project aligns with JSW Infrastructure's strategy to expand its terminal portfolio and diversifies its cargo mix through targeted investments in the container segment. Once completed, the Kolkata project will bring the Company's total container handling capacity close to 1 million TEUs, positioning it as an emerging player in India's port container sector. The concession period for the project is 30 years. The company is committed to expanding its total cargo-handling capacity to 400 million tonnes per annum by 2030 or earlier.
