Tata Power faces USD 490.32m arbitration award

Tata Power Company has disclosed that an arbitral tribunal has issued an award against it, in favor of Kleros Capital Partners Limited, following arbitration proceedings under the Singapore International Arbitration Centre rules. The award, received on July 1, 2025, partially allowed Kleros' claim and orders Tata Power to pay damages of USD 490,320,000, with simple interest of 5.33% from November 30, 2020, until paid. In addition to damages, Tata Power is directed to pay costs of USD 8,289,020.46, also with simple interest of 5.33% from July 1, 2025, until paid. The company is currently reviewing the award's contents and evaluating its options, which include potentially challenging the award.
