JSW Energy signs deal for 250 MW battery storage

JSW Energy Limited [BSE: JSWENERGY] announced that its step-down subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Thirty Seven Limited, has signed Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreements (BESPA) with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) for a 250 MW / 500 MWh Standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The projects, to be developed in Rajasthan, will operate under a Build, Own, and Operate model. The BESPA spans 12 years and includes a tariff of INR 224,000 per MW per month, supported by viability gap funding. This agreement brings JSW Energy's total locked-in energy storage capacity to 29.3 GWh, including 2.9 GWh of BESS and 26.4 GWh of Pumped Hydro Storage, moving the company closer to its goal of 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030.
