BHEL appoints S M Ramanathan as director (engineering, R&D)

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) [BSE:BHEL] announced the appointment of S M Ramanathan as Director (Engineering, Research & Development), effective April 30, 2025. This appointment, approved by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) and BHEL's Board of Directors, follows a communication from the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Ramanathan, previously an Executive Director at BHEL, will serve in this role until his superannuation on January 31, 2027, or until further orders. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from IIT Madras with an M. Tech and ICWA, Ramanathan brings 37 years of diverse experience across engineering, design, R&D, and strategic management. His prior roles include heading Heavy Electrical Plant (HEP) at Bhopal, and in-charge of High Pressure Boiler Plant (HPBP) at Tiruchirappalli and Boiler Auxiliaries Plant (BAP) at Ranipet, with key contributions refining Hydro Turbine design, securing a turbine patent, and earning recognition under the UTKRISHTA innovation category. BHEL has confirmed that Ramanathan has furnished a declaration that he is not debarred from holding the office of Director pursuant to any SEBI order.
