CCI approves merger of Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the proposed merger between Aster DM Healthcare Limited (BSE: ASTERDM) and Quality Care India Ltd on April 15, 2025. This merger, conducted under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002, will create a combined entity, "Aster DM Quality Care", jointly controlled by Aster Promoters and Blackstone. The merged entity will consolidate resources and expertise with a common goal of enhancing access to high-quality medical care nationwide. Aster DM Quality Care will encompass four leading brands: Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, KIMSHEALTH, and Evercare, boasting a network of 38 hospitals and over 10,150 beds across 27 cities, positioning it among India's top 3 hospital chains. Plans call for expansion to approximately 13,300 beds by FY27 through internal accruals and a blend of greenfield and brownfield opportunities. The merger is expected to drive growth, enhance operational efficiency, standardize clinical practices, and increase investment in advanced healthcare technologies. Completion of the merger transaction is expected during 2025.
