GAIL nears completion of Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga pipeline

GAIL (India) Limited (BSE:GAIL) is nearing completion of the Jagdishpur – Haldia – Bokaro - Dhamra Pipeline (JHBDPL), also known as the "Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga" project, as announced on April 10, 2025. With 97.6% of the pipeline laid, the company has already commenced commercial operations on 96.6% of the completed sections. The project, which aims to supply natural gas to Eastern and North-Eastern India, has an authorized length of 3,306 km, passing through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam. As of now, 3,227 km of the pipeline section has been laid, and 3,119 km of pipeline section is under commercial operation. GAIL is currently transporting 12.26 MMSCMD of Natural Gas through the pipeline, serving four fertilizer plants, two refineries (Barauni and Paradip), industrial consumers, and 32 City Gas Distribution networks. Completion of the Durgapur-Haldia and Dhamra-Haldia sections, delayed due to Right of Use availability, is now expected by December 2025.
