Powergrid approves INR 673.08 crore investment in HVDC project

Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID: BSE) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved an investment of ₹673.08 Crore for the procurement of 06 nos. of 397 MVA Converter Transformers for the Talcher-Kolar High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) link. The investment, approved on March 28, 2025, is part of the Additional Capital Expenditure for the 2024-29 tariff block. The project aims to strengthen the HVDC link, which is crucial for power transmission across regions. POWERGRID anticipates commissioning the project by September 2027. This investment demonstrates POWERGRID's commitment to enhancing India's power infrastructure and supporting the growth of the energy sector.
