Grasim commences Birla Opus paints production in Maharashtra

Grasim Industries (BSE:GRASIM) has initiated commercial production at its new Birla Opus Paints plant located in Mahad, Maharashtra. The announcement, made on March 4, 2025, details the plant's installed capacity for various paint types: 180 million liters per annum (MLPA) for water-based paint, 20 MLPA for distemper, and 30 MLPA for solvent-based paint. Note that the solvent-based paint resin manufacturing block is still pending commissioning, with resin currently sourced from other Birla Opus plants. With the commencement of operations at the Mahad plant, five of Grasim's six green-field decorative paint plants are now operational, bringing the company's total installed capacity for Birla Opus-branded decorative paints to 1,096 MLPA. Grasim anticipates the increased production will primarily cater to domestic market demand.
