Concor faces INR 1.45 crore claim in silver theft case

Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) has disclosed details of a pending litigation regarding a Siver theft case dating back to 2019. The case involves a consignment where 2973.341 Kgs was reported short, out of a total cargo weighing 20243.86 Kgs, valued at ₹72.70 Crores. The Commissioner of Customs, Ahmedabad, has directed CONCOR to remit customs duty of ₹1,45,30693/-, which amounts to approximately ₹1.45 Crores, against the alleged lost cargo. CONCOR has filed an appeal with CESTAT, Ahmedabad, on May 30, 2022, and the outcome is still awaited. The original cargo belonged to State Trading Corporation (STC), who took delivery of the available cargo, but has not lodged any claim against the alleged short cargo with CONCOR. This disclosure is in compliance with SEBI (LODR) Regulations, 2015.
