NTPC faces INR 14.53 crore tax demand; plans appeal

NTPC Limited [BSE: NTPC] announced it has received an order from the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, LAKADGANJ 501, Nagpur, Maharashtra, demanding ₹14.53 crore. The demand includes ₹7.77 crore in tax, ₹5.99 crore in interest, and ₹0.78 crore in penalty under the CGST Act, 2017, relating to GST on water charges and Input Tax Credit for the financial year 2020-21. The company intends to file an appeal against the order with the first appellate authority within the prescribed timeline. NTPC stated that there is no material impact on the financials, operations or other activities due to the order. The communication regarding the order was received on February 26, 2025.
