Akzo Nobel India resolves GST dispute in Uttar Pradesh

Akzo Nobel India announced the resolution of a pending litigation with the Uttar Pradesh GST Department. The original show cause notice, disclosed on November 26, 2024, pertained to alleged input tax credit disallowances for the period of April 2020 to March 2021, potentially resulting in a demand of ₹19,21,547. However, the company submitted a response with supporting documents, which was reviewed by the Assistant Commissioner, Hapur Division, Noida, UP GST Department. According to an order dated February 21, 2025, the final demand against Akzo Nobel India is Nil. A related show cause notice received from Punjab GST Department on November 29th 2024 for the period from April 2020 - March 2021, disallowing input tax credit, and containing a demand of Rs. 3,72,914/-, on submission of a response with supporting documents, was also resolved with a Nil order.
