Sibanye-Stillwater appoints experienced director, Lindiwe Mthimunye, to its board

Sibanye-Stillwater Limited announced the appointment of dr. Lindiwe Mthimunye as an independent non-executive director, effective August 26, 2025. Dr. Mthimunye, a chartered accountant with over 23 years of experience across various sectors including oil and gas, property investment, and investment banking, brings significant expertise in strategic leadership, financial discipline, and governance. Her qualifications include a CA (SA), MCom from the University of Cape Town, and DBA from Geneva Business School.

Dr. Mthimunye's extensive board experience includes roles as an independent non-executive chairman at Metrofile Holdings Ltd. (from 2025), an independent non-executive director at Blue Label Telecoms Ltd. (from 2022), and a non-executive director at Sabvest Capital Ltd. Her career highlights include founding Palau Structured Solutions in 2006, leading financial and operational management at Bakoro Property Group, and serving as group CFO at PetroSA from 2013, where she spearheaded cost optimisation and IFRS transition.

Her professional journey began in 1999 at Rand Merchant Bank, specializing in structured and project finance, contributing to landmark infrastructure transactions across South Africa. Notably, she played a key role in the financing of the Albert Luthuli Hospital—South Africa’s first provincial public-private partnership—which received the Africa Deal of the Year award from Euromoney in 2002. Sibanye-Stillwater chairman, dr. Vincent Maphai, expressed confidence that her appointment will bring valuable insight to the board.
