Vodacom advances Maziv acquisition after Competition Commission agreement

Vodacom Group Limited announced that it has reached an agreement with the Competition Commission regarding its proposed acquisition of a 30% stake in Maziv Proprietary Limited. Maziv is the entity holding fibre assets owned by Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), including Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa. The agreement involves an expanded set of transaction conditions designed to address the Competition Commission's concerns, allowing them to withdraw their opposition to the transaction. With the Competition Commission satisfied, the matter is now expected to proceed to the Competition Appeals Court on an unopposed basis. This development marks a significant step forward in the completion of the Maziv acquisition, initially announced on November 10, 2021, and subsequently updated in several announcements throughout 2023, 2024 and 2025.
