Vodacom extends Maziv acquisition deadline to May 23

Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) has announced a further extension to the long stop date for its proposed acquisition of a 30% stake in Maziv Proprietary Limited. The new deadline is now set for May 23, 2025. This follows an initial extension to April 30, 2025, as indicated in a prior announcement on March 14, 2025. Maziv houses fibre assets owned by Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), including Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa. The Competition Appeal Court is scheduled to hear the appeal against the Competition Tribunal’s decision to block the merger from July 22 to 24, 2025. Vodacom intends to submit an updated notice of intention to appeal by May 2, 2025. Shareholders are also referred to a Remgro announcement.
