Vodacom extends Maziv acquisition deadline to April 30, 2025

Vodacom Group Limited (JSE:VOD) has announced a further extension to the long stop date for its proposed acquisition of a 30% interest in Maziv Proprietary Limited ("Maziv") to April 30, 2025. Maziv houses all the fibre assets owned by Community Investment Ventures Holdings (Pty) Limited, including Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa. The Competition Appeal Court has reserved hearing dates for the transaction between July 22 and 24, 2025. The company is awaiting the reasons for the Competition Tribunal's initial decision to prohibit the merger, which is necessary for the appeal process. Previous announcements regarding the proposed acquisition were made on SENS on November 10, 2021, and in subsequent updates through February 14, 2025.
