China Shenhua sees varied performance in November operations

China Shenhua Energy reported a 4.3% year-on-year decrease in commercial coal production for November 2025, reaching 27.0 million tonnes, while coal sales fell 3.6% to 37.0 million tonnes. Accumulated figures for the first eleven months show declines of 1.4% in production (304.3 million tonnes) and 7.7% in sales (389.5 million tonnes) compared to the restated 2024 data.

In transportation, the company's shipping volume saw a significant 10.6% drop in November, totaling 9.3 million tonnes, with shipment turnover down 21.4% to 10.3 bn tonne nautical miles. The company attributed the decrease in shipping volume and turnover to structural adjustments in its shipping business and changes in route structure. Conversely, transportation turnover of self-owned railways increased by 4.0% to 28.3 bn tonne kilometers.

Power generation for November decreased by 4.1% year-on-year to 17.65 bn kwh, and total power output dispatch fell 4.4% to 16.58 bn kwh. However, the coal chemicals segment showed positive growth, with polyethylene sales rising 8.6% to 34.1 thousand tonnes and polypropylene sales increasing 3.6% to 28.5 thousand tonnes in November. The company noted that the year-on-year increase in polyethylene and polypropylene sales for January to November 2025 was due to a lower base from scheduled maintenance in the prior year.
