China Isotope secures Cobalt-60 export deal with Brazil

China Isotope & Radiation Corporation (CIRC) has announced a new agreement for the purchase of Cobalt-60 radioactive sources for irradiation purposes with the National Nuclear Energy Commission of Brazil (CNEN). This marks CIRC's first export of self-produced cobalt-60 radioactive sources to the Latin American market, representing a key milestone for the company. The deal also signifies the first substantive cooperation under a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties.

Under the agreement, CNEN will procure cobalt-60 radioactive sources from CIRC to enhance the irradiation capacity of multi-purpose facilities at Brazil's Nuclear and Energy Research Institute (IPEN). The collaboration aims to apply irradiation technology to various fields, including technology research, development, material research, and irradiation processing, ultimately benefiting Brazilian society and public welfare.
