China Coal Energy reports mixed operational data for October

China Coal Energy’s commercial coal production volume increased by 0.9% to 11.44 million tonnes in October 2025 compared to the same month last year, although the year-to-date total saw a slight decrease of 0.6%. Commercial coal sales volume, however, experienced a notable decline of 12.8% to 21.88 million tonnes for the month, and an 8.0% drop year-to-date. Sales of self-produced commercial coal showed positive growth, rising 4.5% to 12.30 million tonnes in October and 1.4% year-to-date.

In coal chemical operations, polyethylene production volume rose by 8.1% to 67 thousand tonnes in October 2025, despite a year-to-date decrease of 11.6%. Polypropylene production also saw an increase of 4.8% for the month, reaching 65 thousand tonnes. Conversely, methanol production volume decreased significantly by 29.9% to 12.2 million tonnes in October. Urea production volume also saw a decline of 4.2% for the month, reaching 18.1 million tonnes, but a substantial 18.3% increase year-to-date.

The production value of coal mining equipment operations decreased by 19.4% to RMB7.5 million in October 2025, with a year-to-date decline of 8.0%. The company noted that monthly data might differ from periodic reports due to various factors.
