Ganfeng Lithium's Argentina project advances with cost estimates

Ganfeng Lithium Group Co. announced a significant milestone for its Consolidated Project in Argentina, with the Secretariat of Mining and Energy of the Province of Salta issuing an Environmental Impact Statement (DIA) for Phase 1. The company plans to apply for Argentina’s Incentive Regime for Large Investments in the first half of 2026.

The Consolidated Project is poised to become one of the largest undeveloped lithium brine resources, with an estimated 15.07m tons of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE). The project is designed for an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons of LCE over 30 years, to be constructed in three phases.

Golder Associates Inc. estimated the average operating cost for the full project at 150,000 tons of LCE to be $5,027 per tonne, and for Phase 1 at 50,000 tons of LCE to be $5,344 per tonne. The project will utilize direct lithium extraction and solar evaporation ponds.
