China Coal Energy sees mixed performance in September 2025 operations

China Coal Energy's September 2025 commercial coal production decreased by 2.6% to 1,159 ten thousand tonnes compared to September 2024, with year-to-date production also down by 0.7%. Commercial coal sales volume saw a sharper decline of 20.1% in September 2025 to 1,966 ten thousand tonnes, and a 7.4% year-to-date decrease. However, sales of self-produced commercial coal for September 2025 decreased by 5.5% to 1,105 ten thousand tonnes, though year-to-date sales for this category increased by 1.1%.

In coal chemical operations, polyethylene production volume remained flat in September 2025 at 6.5 ten thousand tonnes, but year-to-date volume fell by 13.7%. Polyethylene sales, however, increased by 4.5% in September to 6.9 ten thousand tonnes, despite a 14.3% year-to-date decline. Polypropylene showed a 1.6% increase in September production to 6.2 ten thousand tonnes and a 4.5% increase in sales to 6.9 ten thousand tonnes.

Urea production volume surged by 26.1% in September 2025 to 17.9 ten thousand tonnes, with year-to-date production up 21.5%. Sales volume for urea also saw a significant rise of 54.9% in September to 18.9 ten thousand tonnes. Methanol production increased by 36.4% in September to 16.1 ten thousand tonnes, and sales were up 33.6% to 16.3 ten thousand tonnes. Conversely, ammonium nitrate production and sales volumes both experienced declines in September 2025, falling by 23.5% and 17.6% respectively. The production value of coal mining equipment saw a modest 2.5% increase in September to RMB100 8.1 million.
