COSCO Shipping Development proposes new executive director, general manager

COSCO Shipping Development Co. Ltd. proposes to appoint Wang Kunhui as an executive director, following a recommendation from its indirect controlling shareholder, China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited. This appointment is subject to shareholder approval at a forthcoming extraordinary general meeting. Wang, currently the general manager, will not receive additional remuneration as an executive director, and his service contract would extend until the end of the current board session.

In a separate move, the board has resolved to appoint Wang Kunhui as the general manager, with his appointment taking effect from September 16, 2025. Consequently, Zhang Mingwen, the current chairman, will resign from his concurrent role as general manager, effective the same date. Zhang has confirmed no disagreements with the board regarding his resignation.

Wang, 50, has an extensive background, having joined the workforce in July 1998. His previous roles include deputy general manager of the Asia-Pacific Trade Division of COSCO Container Lines Co. Ltd., and various leadership positions within COSCO SHIPPING Lines and COSCO SHIPPING (South America) Co. Ltd. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering in transportation management engineering from Shanghai Maritime College.
