China Southern Airlines sees strong traffic growth in August

China Southern Airlines Company Limited reported a 6.37% year-on-year increase in passenger capacity (ASK) for August 2025. Domestic routes grew by 4.89%, regional routes by 3.43%, and international routes by 11.35%. Passenger traffic (RPK) also rose by 5.97%, with increases across all route categories. The overall passenger load factor was 86.99%, a slight decrease of 0.32 percentage points from the previous year, though domestic and regional routes saw marginal increases.

In cargo operations for August 2025, cargo capacity (ATK - Cargo and Mail) increased by 0.90% year-on-year, while cargo and mail traffic (RTK - Cargo and Mail) saw a more substantial rise of 5.48%. The cargo and mail load factor improved by 2.21 percentage points, reaching 50.83%. The group introduced seven aircraft and disposed of five, bringing its total fleet to 952 commercial aircraft by the end of the month.

Cumulative figures for 2025 demonstrate consistent growth, with total ASK increasing by 5.77% and total RPK by 7.93%. The overall passenger load factor for the cumulative period stands at 85.53%, a 1.71 percentage point increase year-on-year.
