China Coal Energy sees mixed bag of production and sales in August 2025

China Coal Energy's commercial coal production volume for August 2025 decreased by 1.8% to 1,160 ten thousand tonnes compared to August 2024, and the total for 2025 decreased by 0.5% to 8,999 ten thousand tonnes. Commercial coal sales volume also saw a decline of 12.8% in August 2025, reaching 2,085 ten thousand tonnes, with year-to-date sales down 5.6% to 17,070 ten thousand tonnes. However, sales of self-produced commercial coal increased by 3.1% in August to 1,151 ten thousand tonnes and 1.9% year-to-date to 9,040 ten thousand tonnes.

In coal chemical operations, polyethylene production volume remained flat in August 2025 at 6.7 ten thousand tonnes but was down 15.4% year-to-date. Polypropylene production also saw no change in August, holding at 6.4 ten thousand tonnes, though its year-to-date volume declined by 15.0%. Conversely, urea production volume surged to 18.3 ten thousand tonnes in August 2025 from zero in August 2024, with its year-to-date volume increasing by 20.9% to 141.5 ten thousand tonnes. Methanol production increased by 20.3% year-to-date to 131.7 ten thousand tonnes, and sales rose 22.9% year-to-date to 133.2 ten thousand tonnes.

The production value of coal mining equipment for August 2025 was RMB100m 7.9, showing a 6.8% increase from August 2024 but a 7.6% decrease in its year-to-date total to RMB100m 64.0. The company cautions that these figures are derived from internal statistics and may differ from data in periodic reports, influenced by various factors, including macroeconomic policy adjustments and market conditions.
