CITIC Telecom International reports profit rise despite revenue dip

For the six months ended 30 June 2025, CITIC Telecom International reported a profit attributable to equity shareholders of HK$461 million, a 1.3% increase from HK$455 million in the corresponding period of 2024. Basic earnings per share rose by 1.6% to HK12.5 cents. The board declared an interim dividend of HK6.0 cents per share, maintaining the same level as the previous year.

Total revenue for the period decreased by 1.7% year-on-year to HK$4,807 million. Revenue from telecommunications services saw a 2.1% decrease to HK$4,072 million, while sales of mobile handsets and equipment increased marginally by 0.8% to HK$735 million. EBITDA decreased by 7.4% to HK$961 million.

The group's total debt decreased by 11.6% to HK$3,452 million, leading to a reduction in net debt to HK$1,738 million and a net gearing ratio of 14%. Capital expenditure for the period amounted to HK$127 million, with investments primarily in 5G development, data centers, and network upgrades.
