China Coal Energy: May production data mixed, polyolefins down

China Coal Energy Company Limited (HKEX: 1898) announced its major productive and operational data for May 2025, revealing varied results across its coal and coal chemical operations. Commercial coal production volume increased by 1.9% year-on-year to 1,190 thousand tonnes, with total production reaching 5,630 thousand tonnes, a 2.6% increase. Commercial coal sales volume decreased by 4.9% to 2,179 thousand tonnes. Polyethylene production volume saw a substantial decline of 28.4% to 4.8 thousand tonnes, while polypropylene production volume decreased by 29.3% to 4.1 thousand tonnes. Urea production volume edged up 1.1% to 18.6 thousand tonnes. The production value of coal mining equipment increased by 12.2% to RMB8.3 million. The company cautioned that these figures are internal statistics and may differ from those in periodic reports, also highlighting potential impacts from macroeconomic factors and geological conditions.
