Sir Mark Tucker to succeed Edmund Tse as AIA chairman

AIA Group (HKEX:1299) announced that Edmund Sze-Wing Tse will retire as Independent Non-executive Chairman and Independent Non-executive Director, effective September 30, 2025. In recognition of his contribution, the Board will confer the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus. Sir Mark Tucker, former Group Chief Executive and President of AIA between 2010 and 2017, has been appointed as Independent Non-executive Chairman and Independent Non-executive Director, subject to regulatory approval, effective October 1, 2025. Sir Mark will receive an annual chairman fee of USD1,800,000, a Board membership fee of USD220,000, a Nomination Committee chairman fee of USD30,000 and a Remuneration Committee membership fee of USD40,000. He currently serves as non-executive Group Chairman of HSBC and is the non-executive Group Chairman of the Discovery Group of South Africa.
