Prudential announces 2024 second interim dividend and share repurchase

Prudential plc (HKEX:2378) has announced details for its 2024 second interim dividend, set at USD 0.1629 per ordinary share, with a scrip dividend alternative. Shareholders on the UK register will receive GBP 0.12251807 per ordinary share, while those on the Hong Kong register will receive HKD 1.263835 per ordinary share. Both figures will be paid in cash on May 14, 2025. The company also announced it repurchased 260,000 of its own shares on April 25, 2025, through Barclays Capital Securities Limited at an average price of GBP 8.0452 per share, intending to cancel the repurchased shares. As of the date of repurchase, Prudential's total shares in issue totaled 2,607,697,013. The repurchases were made on the London Stock Exchange, BATS, CHI-X, Turquoise, and Aquis. The decision complies with regulations in the London Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Code on Share Buy-backs. This repurchase is part of an existing mandate granted on May 23, 2024, which authorizes the company to repurchase up to 274,967,019 shares. To date, Prudential has repurchased 145,545,004 shares under this mandate.
