China Maple Leaf expects return to profitability for first half

China Maple Leaf Educational Systems Limited announced it expects to record a profit attributable to owners of the company of not less than RMB110.0 million for the six months ended February 28, 2025 (6M2025). This marks a substantial improvement compared to the approximately RMB42.2 million loss reported for the six months ended February 29, 2024 (6M2024). The company attributes this shift from loss to profit primarily to an increase in other gains and losses. This is due to a net foreign exchange gain of not less than RMB2.0 million in 6M2025, and the absence of losses from fair value changes of convertible bonds of approximately RMB28.2 million that had affected 6M2024. In addition, decreased marketing and administrative expenses, as well as a substantial decrease in finance costs, contributed to the expected profit. The company also anticipates an increase of not less than 10.0% in the adjusted EBITDA for 6M2025.
