China Shenhua reports mixed operational data for March 2025

China Shenhua Energy (HKEX:1088) announced its major operational data for March 2025, showcasing a mixed performance across its key sectors. Commercial coal production increased slightly to 29.4 million tonnes, bringing the year-to-date total to 82.5 million tonnes. However, coal sales decreased to 34.6 million tonnes for the month and 99.3 million tonnes cumulatively, compared to the restated figures from March 2024. The company's transportation turnover on self-owned railways saw a decrease from 28.5 billion tonne kilometres in March 2024 to 23.4 billion tonne kilometres in March 2025. Gross power generation also experienced a decline, falling from 18.39 billion kwh to 17.33 billion kwh. The company cited weaker downstream demand for coal as a contributing factor to the decreases in certain areas.
