Viet Nam Forestry Corporation wins lawsuit over forestland contract breach

Viet Nam Forestry Corporation announced on September 15, 2025, it received a judgment from the People's Court of Area 5, Thai Nguyen. The judgment, dated August 6, 2025, relates to a "dispute over forestland allocation contract" between the company and two individuals. The court ruled in favor of the Corporation, ordering the individuals to jointly pay 68,400,000 Vietnamese dong.

The dispute stemmed from a 2018 contract for planting, caring for, and protecting 2.45 hectares of forestland. The individuals were found to have unilaterally harvested and sold timber products without fulfilling their contractual obligations to Viet Nam Forestry Corporation. The court rejected their claims of forced signing and incorrect land area.

The judgment includes provisions for a 15-day appeal period from the announcement date. An initial court fee of 1,710,000 Vietnamese dong is to be paid by one of the individuals, with the other exempted due to age.
