Hero MotoCorp to appeal tax demand from Uttar Pradesh

Hero MotoCorp Limited disclosed on December 9, 2025, that it received an order on December 8, 2025, from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, State Tax, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The order, issued under Section 73 of the Central Goods & Services Tax Act, 2017, and the Uttar Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, relates to the financial year 2021-22.

The order raises a tax demand of INR 1,10,99,508, along with a penalty of INR 11,09,949, plus applicable interest. The demand alleges an excess claim of Input Tax Credit (ITC) due to mismatches in GSTR-2A/2B and GSTR-3B, and incorrect claims of blocked ITC.

Hero MotoCorp asserts that the tax demand is not maintainable in law and that the ITC was rightfully claimed. The company plans to take appropriate steps, including filing an appeal, and believes there will be no material impact on its financials, operations, or other activities.
